1st Annual Turkey Bowl

The 1st Turkey Bowl Lacrosse Tournament being held on Sunday, November 20th in Cary. It is committed to helping the IFC this year with food and financial needs. You can help by hosting a shift at the table that day from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm during the event. Six or more volunteers are needed to help with the shifts listed below:

8:30am – 10:30am

10:30am –12:30pm Chris & Cheryl Moran

12:30pm – 2:30pm

2:30pm – 4:30pm

A table, IFC literature and a table banner will be provided. IFC will receive can goods and proceeds after costs are paid that can be matched by The Stewards Funds $100,000 challenge. Food Pick Up and Deliver Opening

Hello Volunteers:

We are in need of the following help:

Farmer Foodshare at the Chapel Hill Farmers' Market is looking urgently for a volunteer to pick up local fresh food donated by farmers and shoppers and bring it over to the IFC Community Kitchen.

Position starts on Saturday, August 6th through Mid September. The pick up time is at Noon. The Chapel Hill Farmers' Market is located in the University Mall parking lot behind A Southern Season and next to the K&W Cafeteria. The boxes are not generally more than 15-20lbs each and we usually get about 3-5 boxes of delicious local fresh food.

Receptionist - Thursday Afternoons Needed

A volunteer is needed for Thursday afternoons in our Outreach Program at 110 W. Main Street in Carrboro. If you have a strong desire to work with all people, we have an opening as receptionist in our Carrboro office. The receptionist answers the phone, welcomes clients, registers clients and assists volunteers/clients with questions and services.

Volunteer Orientation

We had an outstanding attendance this week at orientation. Over 22 potential volunteers attended the session. There are many opportunities at the IFC, and we try to place our volunteers in a 2-3 week time frame.

Food Pick Up and Delivery Needs

Community Kitchen is looking for help with food pick up and delivery. We are in need of a long-term commitment (3+ months) by individuals that have availability on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings. Pick up is from a local establishment at 10 a.m. and delivery is to Community Kitchen on Rosemary/Columbia Streets. Qualified volunteers may be able to use our company van for the pick up.

Volunteers Needed

There are currently opening at our Carrboro Pantry. Morning and afternoon positions are available in 2-4 shifts. Positions include: accepting, sorting and stocking donated food and interviewing clients.

There are also summer openings for our Project Rush Hour Program. This program is designed for undergraduate and graduate level students.

Food pick up and delivery positions are also available at Community House. There are Tuesday and Thursday morning positions available.

Seeking A Volunteer for Food Pick up

We have an opening for a driver and delivery person on Thursdays at 9:00 am. The volunteer would pick up food from a local market and deliver it to Community Kitchen on Rosemary/Columbia St.

Orientation Tuesday, January 11th

Orientation for new volunteers will be held this Tuesday, January 11th at 7:00 p.m. at 110 W. Main Street in Carrboro.
